A new dinosaur species was a plant-eater with yard-long horns over its eyebrows, suggesting an evolutionary middle stepbetween older dinosaurs with even larger horns and the small-horned creatures that followed, experts said.

The dinosaur's horns, thick as a human arm, are like those of triceratops - which came 10 million years later. However, thisanimal belonged to a subfamily that usually had bony nubbins a few inches long above their eyes.

Michael Ryan, curator of vertebrate paleontology for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, published the discovery in thismonth's Journal of Paleontology. He dug up the fossil six years ago in southern Alberta, Canada, while a graduate studentfor the University of Calgary.
"Unquestionably, it's an important find," said Peter Dodson, a University of Pennsylvania paleontologist. "It was sort of thegrandfather or great-uncle of the really diverse horned dinosaurs that came after it."

Ryan named the new dinosaur Albertaceratops nesmoi, after the region and Cecil Nesmo, a rancher near Manyberries,Alberta, who has helped fossil hunters. The creature was about 20 feet long and lived 78 million years ago. Theoldest known horned dinosaur in North America is called Zuniceratops. It lived 12 million years before Ryan's find, andalso had large horns.
That makes the newly found creature an intermediate between older forms with large horns and later small-horned relatives, said State of Utah paleontologist Jim Kirkland, who with Douglas Wolfe identified Zuniceratops in New Mexico in1998. He predicted then that something like Ryan's find would turn up. "Lo and behold, evolutionary theory actually works,"he said.
Viewpoint - Very cool stuff. I'm still amazed at how they and date time fossils.

My Favorite Story Trash News Story
Brought to you by TMZ

Is Anna Nicole's grave going to be a tourist attraction? A spokesman for the cemetery where Daniel is buried told TMZ thatthere were now four or five visitors a week at the grave. With the fight over the body, TMZ wondered if there was money tobe made in the crypt (so to speak), so we asked the King of the Internet Graveyard, findagrave.com founder, Jim Tipton.Grave at Pere-Lachaise cemetery in Paris, which "now has a security guard ... cemeteries like to have someonehistorical, not someone as tabloid as Anna."

Asked about the potential for making money from the gravesite, Tipton said that there are only a few graves where theycharge admission, like Princess Diana's or Elvis', where E is buried in the backyard of Graceland. James Brown's family is stillundecided about where they're going to bury him. It miffs Tipton that you can't see Richard Nixon's grave without payingadmission to his library. "Many cemeteries like having visitors and will give you maps, but in California there's a cultureof privacy which extends into death. Forest Lawn is very private, with locked mausoleums," said Jim, "Findagrave.comnow helps celebrity 'gravers' locate graves in these cemeteries that are notoriously tourist-unfriendly."

When asked if Anna's grave would be as popular a tourist destination as Princess Diana's or Marilyn's, Tipton said, "Anna'sno Diana. In death, she won't have the notoriety that Marilyn has. She will have just a passing interest. There'll be six months oftraffic, that's about it. Although her memorial on our pages has been visited almost as much as John Ritter's andChristopher Reeve's." Tipton added that he was glad she was buried in the Bahamas, because he'd like to make a trip there.

While TMZ had the expert on the line, we asked -- who's got the best grave? "Al Jolson's in Culver City is spectacular for itssheer grandeur ... tiered waterfall and a statue of him in his signature one-knee pose."

Viewpoint - This drama is never going to end. It just keeps dragging on.

My Favorite Press Release Today
Brought to you The Open Press

(OPENPRESS) These days you can "trade like a bookmaker using powerful tools that will back for you, lay for you, analyseactivity, forecast trends and ultimately, generate profits," says betting industry expert Lesley-Ann Graham. "It's nowpossible to automate your online betting strategies in ways that even the most successful financial stock traders wouldbe envious of."

Graham's company, BettingBots.com, provides a broad spectrum of betting solutions and custom software applicationsdesigned by the company's experienced development team to suit a client's specific gaming needs. Thecompany's mission, says Graham, is to "form strategic alliances with our customers by providing expert help and advice, premium quality and reliable software solutions, combined with the highest level of customer support."

The website offers a broad spectrum of choices for consumers, but the "jewel in the crown" of BettingBots.com is the X-Bot,the world's first completely automatic betting solution.

Automatic Betting Software

According to Graham, BettingBots.com's automatic betting software is a completely unique innovation. "We're at the forefrontof an evolving modern technology," she says. "No one else has set up a website to educate Internet gamblers on thefull spectrum of software solutions that are available to them."

Graham believes that BettingBots.com has created a brand new niche by providing "guidance and advice on all aspects ofsoftware for the betting industries so our clients can find the most suitable and profitable solutions for their gaming needs."The company recommends software for a variety of different gambling and betting pursuits, but is especially useful tothe needs of betting exchange traders and online poker players.

"In online gambling, streamlined processes translate directly into increased revenue," says Graham, "so BettingBots.comcan provide a significant 'edge' to our clients."

Birth of the 'Bot

In the simplest terms, "betting bots" are web-based and desktop software applications that scan bookmaker sites, bettingexchanges, Internet casinos and poker rooms; analyzing live data, performing functions, placing wagers and securingprofits in order to streamline a gambler's overall betting strategy.

Graham says that BettingBots.com was launched directly in response to the revolution in the way people bet in the 21stCentury ... online and with betting exchanges. "With betting exchanges, people can bet against each other instead ofbetting directly with a bookmaker," explains Graham. "The exchange acts as a brokerage by allowing individual customersto act as the backer, layer, or in modern day terms "the trader".

Betfair.com is the industry leader amongst betting exchanges, says Graham, but notes that a fast-growing number of bettingexchanges, including Betting Pals, Tradbets, BetFanatic and Matchedbets, among others, are offering perks from freebets to 0%. "There are more exchanges coming online every day and they're drawing traders in record numbers," shereports.

In addition to eliminating bookmakers, exchanges permit in-running bets on the majority of horse races. However Grahambelieves that the real appeal of exchanges is the odds advantage you can achieve over traditional bookmakers and thevery positive fact that "successful punters don't have to worry about having the size of their bets restricted."

More importantly, she says, armed with the solutions from BettingBots.com, punters don't even have to worry about theirbets. "That's because bots do all the hard work for you!"

The People Behind the Bots

Although it's the software at BettingBots.com that tends to get the attention, Graham says it's her dynamic, innovative teamthat provides the real power of BettingBots.com. Team members were hand-selected for their strong academicbackgrounds, advanced technical skills, and broad-based knowledge and experience.

"We have more than a decade in software development and our expert staffers are fully knowledgeable about all aspects ofthe betting and gaming industries," says Graham. "That makes BettingBots.com ideally positioned to bring a unique blend ofbetting, gaming and IT experience to our client base."

Viewpoint - Interesting news release. I am not sure I'm real comfortable with software making bets for me.
